September 28th to October 2nd

 Geography:

** Map of Canada Assignments will be handed back early this week. Ask your child about it!

We have been studying different types of landforms. This week, students will work to describe and locate different kinds of landforms as well as how landforms can affect tourism.

Heads up, a quiz is coming up in a couple of weeks!

Religion:

In Religion, we are coming up on the end of our Digital Citizenship Unit. To finish up, we are looking at what makes a website reliable. Students will start their final assessment for this unit at the end of this week. They will have a couple of classes to complete it. It will be due before Thanksgiving weekend. Stay tuned for a more precise due date.

Drama:

Students are continuing to follow the Creative Process to modernize a classic fairytale. Students are still in the "Plan" and "Explore" steps of the process where they are planning their piece of dramatic art and practicing it.

What has been going on in class?

This is what we have been up to since the beginning of the year...

Geography:

We started off our Geography course by looking at what is Geography. Through various class discussions and activities, we talked about how the physical environment relates to humans and vice versa, we practiced describing where a place is located as well as reviewing key mapping elements. This week, students started their first assignment. They are creating a map of Canada while using the key mapping elements that were reviewed in class.

7-3 had their last work period to complete their map yesterday (Thursday). If it hasn't been finished in class, it is for homework. It is due Tuesday, September 22nd.

7-2 will have Monday's class to finish up their map. If it is not finished in class it is for homework. It is due Tuesday, September 22nd.

7-1  will have Monday's class to finish up their map. If it is not finished in class it is for homework. It is due Wednesday, September 23rd.

Religion:

Every year, students are to complete a Digital Citizenship Unit created by the school board. The unit uses the parable of The Good Samaritan to teach students how to behave online. So far we have looked at what it means to be a responsible citizen, why it is important to help those in need as well as the etiquette needed when posted something to social media. Students have been working hard to participate in group discussions and reflective activities during Religion.

Drama:

In Drama, we have reviewed some key information such as what it means to "join in", the benefits of drama, and what it means to be a good audience member. Students also rocked an introductory activity where they interviewed their peers. To finish off this week, we used a Mr. Bean skit to practice working through the Critical Thinking Process.

2020-2021 School Year

Welcome to a new school year and welcome to my website! I will be teaching your son or daughter Religion, Social Studies, and Art.

In an effort to be environmentally friendly, this is where I will be posting classroom announcements, due dates, resources at other useful information during the school year to keep you updated. You and your child will be able to refer to this site to see what is happening each week in class. I encourage you to refer to the site regularly to stay involved and up to date with your child's education. You may also decide to sign up to receive notifications via email on the right side of the page. Please note that specific assignment details and rubrics will be posted in Hapara Workspace.

Course outlines have been posted on the school website. Please review the course outlines with your child.

This year, students will be using a combination of materials to assist in their learning. They will be doing very little work by hand. A lot of their work will be done online. If your son or daughter has an electronic device such as a Chromebook/laptop or tablet, they will be expected to bring it to every class. Please remind them to bring their charger for their device as well. In addition to this, they are asked to have the materials listed below.

For all 3 classes, students must have:

- a 3 ring binder filled with lined paper ;

- a pencil and eraser;

- a couple of differently colored pens (blue, black, red etc.)  for revising their work;

- pencil crayons;

- a ruler;

-scissors;

- a French-English dictionary.

Students are asked to have these items in class with them by September 14th and every day after that.
